A tool I developed to assist new mothers in their self-care is The Well Mom Checklist. Use it to remind yourself of the daily need to take good care of yourself as you care for your baby. Feel free to copy, download and share a copy of the Well Mom Checklist, but please do not change it, and keep the copyright and name attached to it.

THE WELL MOM CHECKLIST
o Have I eaten enough nutritious food today?
o Have I slept at least 5 hours, or taken a nap?
o Have I bathed or showered today?
o Have I exercised at least 10 minutes today?
o Have I had at least 10 minutes of quiet time for reflection and renewal today?
o Have I let myself laugh today?
o Have I let others help me today?
o Have I kissed my baby and told him/her “I love you” today?
o Have I talked to at least one adult today about how I‘m doing today (not just about the baby)
o Have I forgiven myself for mistakes today?
